As if you needed another reason to get excited about the UK launch of hit model scouting show (or, indeed, another reason to go out and buy ELLE tomorrow) – well, let’s just say that, if Naomi Campbell is involved, it’s going to be good. Full stop.

‘It’s not that I’m a control freak, but it’s taken them 10 years to convince me to do television, so if I’m going to do something, I want it to be the best it can be,’ the catwalk phenomenon tells us in an exclusive October issue interview of her newest challenge as mentor – alongside Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg – and executive producer.

‘I’m very direct. On set, I don’t really act like an executive producer, I act like the other mentors. But when I see something I think could be done in a better way, I do open my mouth and I do say.’

So far so scary, right? Her mentees must quake in their Manolos…

‘Not at all!’ she laughs. ‘My girls are tough. They knew what they were getting themselves into. I’m like, “Get over who I am and tell me what you need from me.”’

The Face starts on Sky Living HD on 30 September. Over to the lady herself…
