The honour has been bestowed upon the designer by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the City of New York to mark his incredible 40-year career. Joan Rivers will attend a ceremony at Taharis pop-up shop at 510 Fifth Avenue to kick off the celebrations, WWD reports.
Theyll continue at Taharis NYFW show on 10 September where Elie Tahari Edition 1974, a capsule collection featuring updates on the designers signature silhouettes, will be shown on the runway. The designer is giving two lucky winners (US-based, alas), the chance to attend via a Facebook raffle.
And the giving doesnt stop there.
Tahari has pledged $35,000 to Save the Garment Center, a charity dedicated to keeping fashion jobs in New York. Not a bad legacy... Though heres to another 40 years yet.
