It was the 2011 Marvel blockbuster that first put Chris Hemsworth’s biceps of mythic proportions into the frame. Now, the trailer for its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, has just been released as part of YouTube’s Geek Week – watch it below.
The action-packed epic will see star Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the hammer-wielding Norse God of Thunder. He’ll be joined by Dior muse Natalie Portman, who returns as astrophysicist Jane Foster. It’s The Black Swan star’s first film role since the birth of her son, Aleph, two years ago.

British talent comes in the shape of home-grown star Tom Hiddleston, who plays Thor’s adoptive brother Loki, and former hero Christopher Eccleston, who crosses over to the dark side as malignant elf, Malekith. And, if you’re wondering why that voiceover on the trailer sounds familiar, that’s because it’s none other than Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Directed by talent Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World opens in UK cinemas on October 30.
