Exclusive: The new site you need to know about

audacityoffashion.com launches today

Want to be able to smugly reveal that you helped fashion’s next big thing get off the ground? You need to check out audacityoffashion.com, a new site that has launched today. The idea is to help emerging labels and industry creatives get together enough money to launch their big new ideas and projects with the help of their bigggest fans rather than the bank manager. It’s like Kickstarter for the fashion industry.

‘The concept was born when I decided that my financial background had to meet up with my passion for fashion creativity,’ Muriel Dupas, creator of the site tells us. ‘I have seen so many talented people get turned down for funding because the traditional routes like investors and banks are closed to emerging fashion creatives.’

Currently there are three projects vying for your support on the site; London label Ada Zanditon is looking for funds to make a film that will debut during London Fashion Week; East London upcycling brand, Junky Styling, wants help launching a new bespoke recycling project called Operation Wardrobe; and jewellery brand Jerboa wants to be able to produce a third collection. And more are set to follow.

‘With AudaCity of Fashion, we want to break the rules: emerging brands can engage actively with a passionate crowd, enlarge their audience and get direct funding from their fans and followers,’ adds Dupas. ‘We believe this collaborative effort and group vision will shape the future of fashion. It offers a way to get new brands off the ground, and is a tremendous opportunity to give the power of innovation and decision in the hands of the consumers.’
