Stefano Pilati is leaving Ermenegildo Zegna Couture, after three years in the Head of Design role.

The fashion house has confirmed as much with an official statement.

Pilati has added to Zegna's statement by saying the following:

'I have given much consideration to this decision and after thoughtful conversations with Gildo Zegna, we have reached the conclusion that the mission he entrusted me with had been fulfilled. I now wish to focus on other projects that I had put aside in order to achieve our common goals with Zegna Couture.'

Although it has been three years, it feels like just yesterday that Stefano was departing YSL, paving the way for Hedi Slimane work on and then to debut the Saint Laurent rebranding.

Pilati received a standing ovation at the end of his autumn winter 2012 show for YSL, the culmination of eight years at the fashion house.

His departure from Zegna, we're sure, will be no less celebrated.
