Its official: the fashion world is in love with singer Sky Ferreira.
She was Hedi Slimanes girl of choice to model Saint Laurents pre-fall collection for its lookbook. She gets a front row seat at Chanel. And now, as one of the faces of Benettons autumn/winter 2013 campaign which is all about women in music her appeal just went mass.
ELLE caught up with the itsy-bitsy blonde with the big voice and the even bigger boots on the set of the London shoot.
You have such a distinctive look. Is your onstage musical persona different from the real Sky, or is this just you?
Basically, I just like to wear what Im completely comfortable in. But sometimes, I dont feel comfortable looking like a complete slob on stage. It really depends on my mood. The only way I can perform is if I feel confident, and I cant feel confident if Im not comfortable in what Im wearing.
How would you describe your style?
Grungy. I still go thrifting all the time, but as Ive got older I got a lot more into designer, luxury clothing. Im willing to take more risks. I dont always wear gigantic T-shirts anymore! But I do always wear big boots
Which shops in particular do you like to visit for thrifting?
In LA I just go to Good Will and stuff like that. Its easier [to do it] in LA than New York. Upstate New York is good too, like Salvation Army, but in New York City, its kind of hard to go thrifting there are vintage stores, but its expensive. My favourites are Screaming Mimis and Metropolis, which is my absolute favourite one. It was my best-kept secret. But not any more!
Is there anything you have your eye on this season is there anything you are desperate to get your hands on? Any trends you love?
I dont actually know many trends that well I suppose you notice them over time. I was on a shoot and there was this Celine turtleneck that was also a crop top too; thats pretty cool. I also want those YSL jewelled tights.
Is there anything you would never wear, or are you pretty brave?
There are some things I dont like I dont like shoulder pads in jackets, military-type jackets, or 80s-type Thriller jackets. Even though it looks really cool on the jackets, I just cant do it. It doesnt look good on me.
