Actress Keira Knightly has been the subject of some heavy criticism in the press over the last week, after film director John Carney slated her in a controversial interview in the Independent.

The comments that the Begin Again director made centred on the difficulty he felt he experienced working with Keira.

Some of the more controversial quotes from the interview went along the lines of: 'Keira has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it's very hard to get any real work done' and 'Keira's thing is to hide who you are and I don't think you can be an actor and do that.'

Since these comments were made, though, there has been an outpouring of support for the British actress.

Luckily, John Carney has since apologised for his ill-advised comments, so let's hope this debate is put to bed quickly.
