Whistles is heading to China

Opening stores with Lane Crawford

Whistles has today announced that it’s set to launch in China this August, with the help of luxury department store Lane Crawford.

It’s Jane Shepherdson’s latest step in her move to make the decidedly British brand a global contender. And, rather than go it alone, Whistles will be opening spaces within Lane Crawford’s Shanghai and Hong Kong stores. They’ll be stocking the brand’s Limited Collection – that’s the one that was unveiled during London Fashion Week – alongside leather, cashmere and silk bestsellers.

Whistles is just the latest brand to turn its attention to China. Chanel and Fendi have both mounted typically dramatic catwalk shows (Fendi’s used the Great Wall as a back drop no less) there in recent years, while Topshop has just opened its first store in Hong Kong. And Victoria Beckham made a stop at Lane Crawford this week to launch her autumn/winter 2013 collection.
