Gender-neutral is becoming an ever-familiar term in the fashion world.

A few months ago Zara became the first high-profile high street brand to launch a line catering to men, women and those who identify as neither. The collection of jeans, hoodies and T-shirts was met with mixed reactions.

Some felt it was a step in the right direction, others felt it was too bland an offering.

Now MOTHER, the hottest denim label around right now, has dipped its toe in the gender-fluid waters with the launch of Love Your Other.

The 10-piece collection consists of jeans, graphic tees and sweatshirts, flight suits and flight jackets in sizes XS – XL and 24 – 36 for jeans.

Proceeds from the capsule benefit Self Evident Truths, a photographic documentation of 10,000 people in the USA that identify as anything other than 100% straight. The aim of the project is to humanise a vast community through the simplicity of their faces, showing that they come in all shapes, sizes, races, and social strata, thus making it harder for people to discriminate.

'At MOTHER we believe in being a part of something greater than ourselves. We partnered with Self Evident Truths in the spirit of promoting self-truth and equal rights for everyone,' Lela Becked, Co-Founder of MOTHER exclusively told ELLE UK. 'Our hope is that the capsule and campaign will bring attention and change the 'othering' that goes on when people are different.'

'We were inspired by the concept of doing away with labels and blurring the lines of gender and sexuality. Love Your Other does away with traditional labels – "Male" "Female" "Gay" "Straight" "Other" "Single" "Married", etc,' added Co-Founder Tim Kaeding. 'We wanted to create a non-binary collection and message that would foster inclusivity. And, in the spirit of being labeless we removed the traditional MOTHER label from our garments.'
