The Duchess of Cambridge has completed her final official solo engagement before heading off on maternity leave.

And we think her final bump-accommodating fashion statement was, if you’ll pardon the pun, spot on.

Kate stepped out today for that most royal of events, the christening of a cruise ship, at Southampton Docks this morning in a £169 Dalmatian-print mac by Hobbs: one of the go-to high street brands in her fashion armoury.

She accessorised it with a black hat and a white box clutch.

It’s precisely one month before the Duchess’ unconfirmed due date of 14 July and she looked relaxed and elegant at the event, which saw the new 3,600-passenger vessel Royal Princess symbolically named. As its honorary godmother, Kate got to smash a nebuchadnezzar of Moet & Chandon against its hull - not a bad farewell statement, all in all.
