This morning brought the news that Consuelo Castiglioni has decided to leave Marni, the label she co-founded with her husband, Gianni, in 1994.
Castiglioni received wide praise for her bold, graphic creations and the off-kilter elegance of her designs.
The news comes only a week after it was announced that Peter Dundas would be leaving fellow Millan Fashion Week label Roberto Cavalli.
The confirmation ends speculations during Milan Fashion Week that her Spring/Summer 2017 collection, a strong, sophisticated blend of beauty and utility, would be her last at Marni.
It is believed that her decision to step down was personal.
Marni was taken into the hands of Only The Brace, the group which also owns Maison Margiela and Viktor & Rolf, last year.
Whoever assumes the helm has big shoes to fill.
