Risso comes from Prada, which he joined in 2008 to work on the women's collection and brand endorsement projects. He's held other positions at Anna Molinari, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, and Malo. Risso is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and also studied at Polimoda in Florence and New York's Fashion Institute of Technology.

Castiglioni is leaving to focus on her personal life. "These were hectic and exciting years which absorbed all my energies to create a project I am proud of," she said in a statement to Business of Fashion. "Thanks also to the constant support of my family who allowed me to stay true to my idea, I built a brand with a precise and recognizable identity."

Risso's first collection for Marni will debut in February for fall/winter 2017.
