Three was the magic number for ’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at last night’s Council Of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards – as they scooped the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award for the third time.

Considering it’s the fashion equivalent of an Academy Award for Best Actor, that’s no mean feat.

And, indeed, the Hollywood contingent was out in force to join the celebrations, held at New York's Lincoln Center: Kerry Washington handed over the statuette to the Proenza boys, while Jessica Chastain, Hailee Steinfeld, Douglas Booth and a Calvin Klein Collection-clad Rooney Mara joined her on presenting duty.

was the thrilled recipient of the Chastain-bestowed award: best international designer.

‘It’s a dream come true,’ he told WWD. ‘You know, I’m Italian, and since I was a kid, my big obsession was America. To be recognised in America… Was one of the biggest gifts of my career.’

Elsewhere, Hillary Rodham Clinton presented the Eleanor Lambert Founders Award to , Vera Wang accepted the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and triumphed over and Proenza Schouler in the hotly contested Accessory Designer Of The Year category.
