Applications have been flooding in for ELLE’s ground-breaking Edited by the Interns initiative and we can’t wait to work on the October issue with the 10 winning interns.

Interns are vital to the work we do at ELLE. Through hard work and dedication they get the chance to learn from team ELLE about the inner-workings of a fashion magazine.

ELLE interns are a dynamic bunch with a diverse range of interests. We asked the current crop which department they’d love to work in for the day:

Louise Donovan, features intern

‘If I could intern in another department it would probably be art alongside the art director Miette Johnson. The magazine is not just entertaining to read, but aesthetically pleasing to look at and the layout and designs are so incredibly eye catching. I would love to learn the skills to make a page really stand out.’

Mark Cleevely, fashion intern

'I was interning in fashion for Donna Wallace, and she asked if I would come back to assist on the accessory supplement. If I could work on another department, I would love to work with Rossana Shokrian in pictures as I love working with visuals.'

Diana Gavrilina, picture intern

‘I’m currently working on the online picture desk assisting with picture resizing, researching and building galleries. If I could be in another department for the day I’d like to work with Rosie Bendandi, the fashion production and bookings editor as I would love to arrange and work on a photo shoot.’

Charlie Gowans-Eglinton, fashion intern

'I’m interning in the fashion department at the moment and I’d love to work with Rebecca Lowthorpe in fashion features. They have the chance to dig into the inspiration for and origins of every designer collection and street style trends that you see in the pages of ELLE.'

Daniela Morosini, beaut intern

'I’m interning in the beauty department but I’d love to work Hannah Swerling in the features department or Leisa Barnett, the digital news and social media editor so I could hone my interview skills. I’d also love to start a food team. Mary Berry could edit it and we could eat cake all day!'

Jules Kosciuczyk, fashion features intern

'I am fashion features assistant at the moment, which I adore. If I could be in another department it would be fashion, working under Anne-Marie Curtis, ELLE’s fashion director. I love the creative energy and diversity that goes with shooting incredible fashion stories. I also love the process of mood boarding a story and deciding how and what to shoot to portray a key trend and give it your own spin.'

Eilidh Williamson, art intern

'I’m interning in the art department but I would love to work with Sophie Beresiner in the beauty department because they always get the most amazing products to try out, especially nail varnish (I’m addicted!)'

Megan Breen, fashion intern

'I am currently working in the fashion and accessories department alongside Donna Wallace. I’d love to work with Annabel Brog in the entertainment department as I’m really interested in how ELLE secure such amazing cover stars!'
