Prabal Gurung joins designer mile-high club

Designing uniforms for ANA

Prabal Gurung is set design uniforms for around 10,000 All Nippon Airways cabin and ground staff to celebrate the airway's 60th birthday in 2014.

As one of New York Fashion Week’s hottest talents, Singapore-born Gurung has already got an impressive array of women wearing his designs, from Kate Middleton to Gwyneth Paltrow and Emma Watson. But this is an interesting new venture for the US-based designer that he hopes will 'pay homage to the history of the airline, while incorporating a fresh and modern perspective'.

A spokesperson for the ANA Group, the eighth largest airline in the world, said that the choice to collaborate with Gurung was simple, as ‘he’s one of the most promising and celebrated designers of his generation.’

Hear, hear.
