If, like us, your Instagram has been inundated with #LFW all weekend and you've been struggling to sort the fashion wheat from the chaff, you too likely felt your heart lift a little when pictures of sparkly disco pants started drip-dripping onto your feed last night.

But who was behind this Studio 54-infused virtual glitter bomb?

Michael Halpern, that's who.

If you've never heard of the 29 year-old New York native, don't worry, you're not woefully ill informed - Halpern is relatively new on the scene.

He made his London Fashion Week debut last February as part of Central Saint Martins' MA graduate show and now, one year on, he's showed on-schedule under his own Halpern Studio brand for the first time.

So, what's his story?

Well, he's a graduate of New York's prestigious Parsons School of Design, where he studied for his BA in fashion design, before crossing the pond to study for his MA at CSM.

He's already worked for J. Mendel and Oscar de la Renta, and he also consults for Versace's couture wing, Atelier Versace.

'My basic is a multi-coloured, sequin polo neck,' he recently told WWD, which goes some way to explaining the high-octane evening glamour he presented last night. (A sequin polo neck will set you back £500 , FYI).

One collection in and he's already been picked up by some of the world's biggest retailers, including Browns, MatchesFashion and Bergdorf Goodman. What we're trying to say is: remember his name, he's going to be huge.
