She's become a regular on the Fashion Week schedule thanks to her collaborations with Puma and Manolo Blahnik (on a crazy-successful shoe range), but now, Rihanna is flexing her design muscles in a very different direction: fine jewellery. The singer has partnered with Chopard, the Swiss luxury jewellery and watch brand, on haute joaillerie and joaillerie collections.

"I have always been in love with Chopard's exquisite jewellery, so to actually design collections with them is something I still can't believe," Rihanna said. "It was a really incredible process and I learned so much. I can't wait for everyone to see it."

The 29-year-old worked closely with Chopard co-president and creative director Caroline Scheufele on pieces that "blend urban chic with classic glamour." The two collections were inspired by Rihanna's "island roots—the lush gardens of Barbados and the electricity of Carnival," according to a press release from the maison.

The first drop—the minimalist geometric joaillerie collection—features nine pieces crafted from 18-karat ethical rose gold mixed with jungle green, a shade hand-picked by Rihanna—and will be unveiled in full later this month. Pieces will be available to purchase in June, with pre-orders online now at chopard.com.

The second range—the haute joaillerie collection—will debut May 2017 as part of the 70th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, to celebrate Chopard's 20th year as official partner of the world-famous film event. Rihanna gave us a preview at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, wearing a pair of floral chandelier earrings and a marquise-cut diamond ring from the capsule collection.

"Rihanna and I collaborated closely on the collections so you can feel her unstoppable energy, strong creativity, and inherent sense of design in every piece," Scheufele said. "With her unique style, she redefines the way people see and wear jewellery."
