Back in January, Gucci teased its pre-fall 2017 campaign with a series of audition videos. "What does it mean to have soul?" they asked the cast of models, who also danced for the camera. Today, we finally get to see what Gucci was looking for.
Titled "Soul Scene," Gucci's pre-fall campaign takes inspiration from '60s influences, including England's Northern Soul movement, sparked by black American soul music. Creative director Alessandro Michele also had in mind Malian photographer Malick Sidibé, who photographed parties and flamboyant fashion of the community of Bamako, Mali.
Photographed by Glen Luchford, the vibrant campaign is notably fronted entirely by black models. See all the photos, ahead.
