It’s the year’s most anticipated film. And although Baz Luhrmann’s very stylish adaptation of The Great Gatsby won't be hitting screens until mid-May, everyone from designers to musicians to mixologists to choreographers have been lining up to pay homage to F. Soctt Fitzgerald’s classic American novel too.

Here’s ELLE’s round-up of the best Gatsby-themed events where you can party like it's 1929 – book now to beat gaggles of flappers and dandies. Make ours a Gin Rickey, please…

Bunny Hop To It

Trying to make your Gatsby-themed party stand out? Why not learn some authentic Charleston moves in the elegant Ballroom at art deco Claridge’s? Coached by specialist dance group, ‘The Bee’s Knees’, this masterclass will teach you steps including the scarecrow, the bunny hop, the fish tail and Josephine Baker. Sessions include a dressing-up box of 20s accessories.

Next class takes place May 13 2013

£125 per person

6.30-8.30pm, Claridge’s

The Great Gatsby at Sadler’s Wells

The brilliant Northern Ballet company, which dazzled audiences last year with its interpretation of Cleopatra, returns to tell Gatsby’s dizzying story in pirouettes. Worth seeing for the glorious set alone.

14-18 May 2013

Sadler’s Wells, Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R

Cheers to that

Sashay into a speakeasy (don’t forget the password) in order to recreate a Gatsby night out (hopefully without the dramatic ending). Try the Candlelight Club, which hosts regular 20s –themed nights: each one has a special theme, and they have Gatsby night lined up for May 10-11, with a bespoke cocktail menu, vintage DJing and a live jazz band. The secret bar below Shoreditch's Rotary Bar Diner has a clandestine appeal of which Gatsby would approve – it's accessed out through the fire escape. Just follow the hoards of people who look like they're going to the loos.

See the costumes

Menswear brand Brooks Brothers has collaborated with The Great Gatsby’s costume designer (and Baz Lurhmann’s wife), Catherine Martin, to create an exhibition that launched at its Regent Street store today. The exhibition includes 10 pieces worn by Leo, Carey and the cast of the film.

Runs April 19 – May 31

The Great Northern Hotel

The Great Northern Hotel will be reopening his month after 12 years and a £40m renovation – and the first pictures suggest a decadent Gatsby-esque makeover. The GNH bar will take over almost an entire floor of the hotel and will play host to guest DJs; the mirrored ceilings and tiled floors have an Art Deco feel that Gatsby would love. We reckon he’d be a fan of the cocktail menu, too.

The Great Gatsby Musical

Joe Evans and Linnie Reedman’s The Great Gatsby Musical was nominated for three Off West Awards (Best Musical, Best Costume Designer and Best Lighting Designer) and was voted Time Out’s Show of the Week in its first run in 2012. Now it’s back for another run in Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios with new songs, new choreography and new orchestrations. It’s a stylish, explosive and unique perspective on the classic.

Riverside Studios, Crisp Road, Hammersmith, London W6 9RL

Runs 21 May to 8 June
