Chime For Change – the new charitable initiative unveiled by Gucci last month – will take over London this summer with a concert to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment.

At a breakfast in London this morning, charity ambassador Salma Hayek confirmed that Beyoncé and John Legend will headline The Sound Of Change Live, due to be held in London’s Twickenham Stadium on 1 June. Ellie Goulding, Florence + the Machine, Haim, Timbaland and Rita Ora are also set to perform, with more acts to be announced.

Beyoncé announced details of the concert via VT. 'Our goal is to call for change in the loudest voice possible,' she said in the brief black-and-white clip.

Throughout the concert, ten short films will be screened that each highlight serious issues for girls and women around the world. One of them, Humaira: The Dreamcatcher, by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, was premiered for press this morning.

'This is the first global concert for girls and womens' empowerment,' said Legend, speaking at the event. 'But Chime for Change is about more than that.'

‘There are no innocent bystanders in the information age,' said Salma. ‘Technology connects us as never before. But that means we also have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to do something about it. We can be defined not just by what we know, but by what we do, and that is the vision behind Chime For Change.’

Tickets for the event will go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am GMT at www.chimeforchange.org. And if you don't manage to bag any then you don't have to miss out - the concert will be televised worldwide.

Plus, there are plenty of ways you can support Chime for Change - stick with ELLE, whose parent company Hearst is a partner of the campaign, to find out more.
