A feature-length documentary about Vivienne Westwood is on its way. Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist will tell the story of one of the true icons of our generation, from her struggle with success in the fashion industry to her cultural significance and passion for activism.

Through archival footage, as well through as newly shot interviews with Westwood and some of her closest family, friends and collaborators (including her son Joseph Corré), the film will tell the story of her fascinating life and career.

The designer shot to fame in the 1970s when she started making clothes for Malcolm McLaren's (manager of the Sex Pistols) store on the Kings Road and is widely credited with bringing punk culture into mainstream fashion. She had an uphill struggle with success, but has since become one of the most famous British fashion designers of all time, who is just as well-known for her political streak and commitment to activism.

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist is being produced by Dogwoof. Fashion documentary fans will know their work from titles including Bill Cunningham New York and Dior & I, a film about Raf Simons' debut collection for the French label.

The documentary is set for release in March of next year and will premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition. This will also mark acclaimed visual artist director Lorna Tucker's first feature film.
