Good news for our French and American cousins: Whistles is coming to a bricks-and-mortar store near you soon.

To celebrate, the fashion favourite has linked up with Garance Doré to create a super-cute video called #bellesandwhistles, featuring taste-makers from all three countries, which you can watch exclusively above.

We caught up with Garance to get the inside track...

Tell us about the idea behind the film.
The idea was to show the amazing personalities of the girls, to celebrate individuality and have a bit of fun around idea of whistling. We cast some amazing women and let them play the way they are. The way I work with the people that I shoot, I want them to be themselves, guiding them, dancing with them. It’s a collection of very fun moments.

You must get asked to do so many projects - why did you say yes to this one?
This is the kind of brand that comes naturally to me, I can wear everything they do and I actually do, I have so many of their pieces. The team could be my friends. Its so simple and natural and organic, there was not one second where wondered if I shouldn’t do it.

Did you have a hand in choosing the six girls?
Yes, I think it’s important because it all comes down to the people you’re shooting. We wanted people with personality, that’s how you can make such a film. We thought about the girls that inspire us, who was going to be cool enough and easy enough in front of the camera. We wanted girls who would show the modernity of brand and wear it with class and attitude. It’s all about the attitude.

Can you whistle?
I’m the best whistler. I can do a little whistle and I can do a really earsplitting whistle with my fingers. I trained myself when I was a kid, I wanted to whistle like the boys so I practiced for hours. It’s really loud.
