Monochrome is the big style story right now, and the red carpet at last night’s glitzy Screen Actors’ Guild Awards in LA confirmed it.

From Julianne Moore – who scooped the Best Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series award for Game Change – in white, embroidered to fellow winners Anne Hathaway and Tina Fey in all-black gowns by and Oscar de la Renta respectively, the event was awash with black and white.

Winner of the Best Actress in the ‘movie’ section for Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence, bucked the trend in a navy blue that was first unveiled in Paris last week. She caused gasps as she stumbled on stepping up to the stage, and the bottom part of the dress appeared to rip away - but, like a true star, she didn't miss a beat and collected her award with mega-watt poise.
