French fashion house Givenchy will not be showing at Paris Haute Couture Week in January, WWD have reported.
But Cate Blanchett and other celebrity fans of the brand neednt panic theyll still be making couture clothes.
Givenchy have decided to remove themselves from the Couture Week schedule (which falls on 21 24 January next year) in order to focus on creating personal designs for celebrities attending high-profile events, and for clients who visit the Paris showrooms.
Selected guests attending the annual New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in May 2013, for example, will wear bespoke Givenchy couture designs.
This is the latest step for the brand which, under the leadership of its celebrated creative director Riccardo Tisci, has been downsizing its couture collection in recent years. In 2010 and last year Tisci decided to present just ten dresses in static presentations, in place of a full catwalk show.
Replacing them on the Couture Week schedule will be newcomers Alexis Mabille and Maison Martin Margiela, who were made holders of haute couture status by French fashions governing body, the Chambre Syndicale on Tuesday.
