In this year’s game of fashion musical chairs – Raf Simons to Dior, Hedi Slimane to YSL, Jil Sander to, well, Jil Sander – Stefano Pilati, former creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, disappeared into relative obscurity, taking an extended holiday and some well-earned rest.

He was then snapped up by Milan-based menswear brand, Ermenegildo Zegna, as head of design for menswear and creative director for their lesser-known women’s wear line, Agnona, with work scheduled to begin on 1 January.

But it seems he’s got a little head start. On the Instagram account belonging to NYC DJ trio The Misshapes today, one of the Misshapes – and long-time fashion favourite – Leigh Lezark is seen in a design which she claims is Agnona by Stefano Pilati.

The sleeveless black jacket would be the first design to be unveiled by the Italian fashion designer since he finished his eight year stint at YSL, and shows he still packs a stylish punch.

If this is a sign of things to come, bring on the new year, and the new Pilati.
