Always ready with an opinion, Karl Lagerfeld has offered up his thoughts about the latest movements in the fashion world – Alexander Wang’s new job at Balenciaga.

In an email to ModMods, Metro’s street style blog, Chanel’s creative director says he believes that ' is the best man for the job’.

‘His fashion is easier, his personality is more open to the world and he has very good contacts. People "adore" Alexander. I too like him very much and I think he is a good choice in light of the fashion house’s future projects. Furthermore, his origins will prove to be very helpful in parts of the world where fashion is most important as well as the luxury industry,’ he continues.

These will be reassuring words for Alexander Wang, who has wasted no time in getting to grips with his new role. Though today is only his third on the job, Wang has reportedly already spent considerable time in the fashion house’s archives.

‘He said, "Immediately I want to see the archives. I want to understand the culture behind the brand,"’ said, ’s CEO, Isabelle Guichot, of the designer's eagerness. ‘He could have slept there almost.’

With his first collection for the brand – autumn/winter 2013 – set to hit catwalks in March, this speed and eagerness is exactly what the designer will need, especially with his own collections to think about as well. Sleeping in the archives might not be such a bad idea...
