Selfridges is set to spend £300m on its Oxford Street store to make it the world’s largest accessories destination.

The core change to the store (and the one we’re most excited about) will be the expansion of the current luxury handbag department, which will more than double in size, bringing it to 50,000sqft. That’s a lot of handbags.

Add the store’s fine jewellery and watches, shoes and men and women’s accessories rooms, and you’ll have well over 100,000sqft of accessories.

Who needs museums when you can browse (not to mention buy) bags and shoes all day?

The work on the store is due to start at the end of June and is expected to be completed in five years.

But how will we wait that long?
