Last night ELLE attended the most fashionable Halloween event around – the spooks-themed preview of Giles’s capsule collection for boutique Matches.

Over a lovely glass of fizz and a pumpkin canapé, ELLE asked the designer about his latest venture. ‘I’ve always loved what Matches do.’ 'They are a creative machine of a business, for one, and great supporters of British fashion, for another.’

He added, ‘We felt the time was right to do a mini capsule. There’s something for everyone in it because prices start at about £50 and will go up to £800.’ The range on show included ready-to-wear, as well as iPad cases, stationery and even dolls in gorgeous graffiti-esque Giles prints.

Following on from the Children in Need fashion Pudsey Bears, plus the designer dolls at the Port Eliot fashion symposium, are fashion toys the new big thing, we asked? ‘I don’t know!' Giles said, '[But] I’ve always loved things like that. It’s something I like to play around with.’

Giles’s 16-piece range of clothes and gift items, from dresses to dolls, launches exclusively at Matchesfashion.com and in Matches stores from 13 November 2012. And anyone wishing to buy us a Christmas present from the range is more than welcome to.
