McQ appoints Alistair Carr as Head of Design

Former Pringle of Scotland Designer Director Alastair Carr has been named the new Head of Design at McQ.

The news of Carr's appointment reached show-goers on the day of Pringle's spring summer 2013 presentation, as good a time as any for the fashion world to learn what Carr, who resigned from his Pringle post in April, plans to do next.

McQ, Alexander McQueen's little sister line, burst out of the shadows last fashion week with a jaw-dropping , military-inspired collection. The new appointment suggests that Alexander McQueen executives and Sarah Burton are keen to retain the label's newfound place in the limelight.

Favouring more contemporary designs, Carr breathed a refreshing energy into Pringle, dispensing with the 'grandma knits' and adding a modern edge to a brand known for its cashmere twinsets.

The question on everyone's lips is, what will the tattooed Central Saint Martins alumnus do for McQ? We'll have to wait and see come Pre-AW13. Watch this space.
