Rag and Bone’s Spring Summer 13 collection had already been shown in New York, but this show was not just about the clothes – it was about David Neville and Marcus Wainwright returning to their native London and creating a spectacle to go with it.

And a transparent marquee in the middle of Sloane Square, complete with handsome models serving champagne and a line-up of all the top British catwalk models – was spectacle enough.

The presentation took on a Big Brother edge, with a series of full-length screens lined up along the catwalk, and cameras that filmed the girls in front of them and indeed the audience behind them, projecting the images out for all to see.

If it sounds complex, it was – enough to impress, but also just enough to make looking at the clothes that little bit tricker. But we got the important messages: chic sportswear with Rag & Bone vocab stamped all over it – the oversize pockets, the perforated performance fabrics, the boyish shapes and sexy flashes of leather. Perfect blazers came in blues, taupes and neon green and motorcycle trousers or tarty little rara skirts provided edge.

The prodigal sons have returned – and about time.
