You know what to expect with Michael Kors. He likes to bring out the celebrities, then ramp up the glamour to max. And so, to an extent, it was business as usual for spring summer 2013: Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones on the front row, gold sequins and white shorts on the runway.
Except this season Mr Kors has had a slight change of plan. Because apart from those sequins and three dramatic black evening gowns at the shows close, this was about daywear (albeit of the really fabulous breakfast-at-Wolseley-lunch-at-Cipriani kind).
The colours were bright: 'bold shades of sun, palm and sky', said the programme notes, which translates to neon yellow, green and a lovely blue cloud print. Just as well the models mostly wore enormous, fabulous visor-glasses.
There were a few nods to emerging trends: rugby stripes, bared midriffs, optical checks. There was a '60s theme. But mostly there were just great, glamorous clothes for those with occasion to wear them. Key pieces included the coats knee-length, double-breasted, modish as well as geometric print shifts, slim trousers and pencil skirts covered in paillettes.
