Oscar de la Renta breaks out the latex for spring

Candyfloss beehives, latex skirts and fluoro suits: was this really Oscar de le Renta?

There are certain things you don’t expect to find from the designer synonymous with socialites and New York’s Upper East Side. Somehow, all of them made an appearance on his spring summer 2013 runway. And how fabulous it was!

If there was a moment that summed it all up, it was when Cara Delevingne strutted out in a shocking pink strapless dress with a short and puffy tulle skirt, her hair streaked with the same colour. Chic, clearly… but a bit of a surprise.


Wait! There was more. For every pretty little lace or tweed suit, there was a blue latex dress with a candyfloss-coloured jacket or a white lace dress with black graffiti embroidery.

It was a romp of full-on femininity, executed with a great deal of humour and charm. If we were ever to have that life, it’s just how we’d hope to dress.
