Carine Roitfeld is preparing to paint Cannes town red.

The formidable editrix is returning to the helm of the amfAR gala's catwalk show for the third year in a row and, following years of black and gold as her hero colour, this time, it's all about the red - which is, of course, the colour of AIDs awareness, for which the event raises funds.

Taking Marilyn Monroe as this year's muse, forty designers - among them (pictured above), , , , and - have each created a one-off look that will be modelled on the night by a top model. Karlie Kloss, Toni Garrn, Arizona Muse and Daria Strokous are all confirmed to appear.

So what does Roitfeld think Monroe would make of it all if she were around to witness it?

'She searched for love all her life, and I think she would have been a big supporter of the foundation,' she told WWD.

This year's event takes place on 22 May, chaired by heavyweight film festival-goers including John Travolta, Milla Jovovich, Harvey Weinstein and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Stay tuned for all the real-life pics.
