Congratulations are in order for Stella McCartney, handbag guru Lulu Guinness and celebrated fashion illustrator, David Downton for their outstanding contribution to the world of fashion. The ceremony will take place later this month, so the students graduating from London College of Fashion this year will get up close to the three luminaries of the industry.

You might or might not recognise the University of the Arts London – it’s the umbrella organisation which covers numerous creative colleges on London. Notably Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion but many other institutions training the visionaries of the future in photography, graphic design, fashion design, shoemaking, even fashion journalism.

Of course Stella has already been through the process once for her BA in womenswear from Central Saint Martins – (graduating in 1995, fact fans) while Lulu Guinness, who has been awarded the OBE said ‘I am extremely grateful to University of the Arts London for awarding me with this Honorary Doctorate, I did not have a formal training in handbag design so this makes this extra special’.

Of course, what we really want to know is; will ultra stylish Stella actually be photographed in one of those mortar board hats and Hogwarts-style academic gowns?
