Hot on the heels of the news that they'll be playing host to Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty next year, the V&A has announced a retrospective of master photographer Horst. P. Horst – and his 60 year career – this autumn.

One of the finest fashion photographers of the 20th century, Horst photographed legendary couturiers such as Coco and Elsa Schiaparelli in action and enjoyed a long creative relationship with Salvador Dali in post-war New York.

Horst: Photographer of Style will include both the photographer's best-known work and unpublished prints and contact sheets, starring names including Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth and Noel Coward.

Says Martin Roth, Director of the V&A: 'Horst was one of the greatest photographers of fashion and society and produced some of the most famous and evocative images of the 20th century.

'This exhibition will shine a light on all aspects of his long and distinguished career. Horst’s legacy and influence, which has been seen in work by artists, designers and performers including Herb Ritts, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bruce Weber and Madonna, continues today.”
