The fashion house will show its AW12 couture collection in two sessions at the Ritz Paris on 1 July. The Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week show will be one of the final events held at the Paris institution before it closes for extensive renovations on 31 July.

The venue holds a storied place in Versace history. It was the site of Gianni Versace’s final show before his death in 1997, and the fashion house showed several seasons of its couture line there before shelving the events in 2004.

‘It is with tremendous emotion that I return to the Ritz where I shared so many special moments with my brother,’ Donatella Versace said in a statement. ‘The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one, so to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone.’

The Ritz will close for 27 months to facilitate a ‘spectacular improvement’, owners said.
