Opening Ceremony, the hip New York retailer, will pop up in a temporary space in Covent Garden in time for the London 2012 Games this July.

The 3,000-square-foot temporary space will make way for a permanent London home in autumn 2012.

‘Bringing Opening Ceremony to Covent Garden is an important next step in the growth of our company,’ co-founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim told WWD.

‘In the last 10 years since we first opened our doors on Howard Street in New York, Opening Ceremony has expanded to Los Angeles and Tokyo, but we have had our hearts set on London since the beginning. Covent Garden is an historic, global shopping destination and we’re looking forward to what Opening Ceremony will add to its exciting future.’

The newest store in Lim and Leon’s growing retail empire will stock their signature mix of high-end designer pieces and niche-label finds. In the original New York outpost, designs from , Pamela Love and Delfina Delettrez sit alongside the retailer’s collaborative ranges, such as Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony and Adidas x Opening Ceremony.

Opening Ceremony is also producing a sports-inflected collaboration with Topshop, set to launch with the July opening.
