Commentator Caryn Franklin, Premier Model Management founder Carole White and author Caitlin Moran were joined by educators, activists and more than a few Girl Guides to celebrate nominees whose work promotes positive body image.

‘With these awards we want to publicly recognise positive steps taken by industry groups, businesses and campaigners,’ Jo Swinson, MP for East Dunbartonshire, said. ‘In highlighting their leading work and body confidence initiatives hopefully they will inspire others to follow in their footsteps.’

Organisers dispensed awards for the most body-confident advertising campaigns, beauty products, publications, educational programmes, retail ranges and fashion designers.

Giles Deacon, Vivienne Westwood and Mark Fast were nominated in the fashion category. Franklin, founder of All Walks Beyond the Catwalk, presented the fashion award to Fast, the knitwear designer who has cast curvy models for his catwalk shows.

‘My job as a designer is really, fortunately enough, to work with women of such curves and beauty, and to really just build confidence,’ he said when collecting the award. ‘That’s what I’m happy to do for women around the world.’
