Karl to comment on Jubilee

Karl Lagerfeld is set apply his eye for style to the Diamond Jubilee as pundit for French TV.

The Chanel designer will provide live commentary for France 2’s coverage of celebrations surrounding the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation on 3 June.

The booking suggests that Lagerfeld may be as riveting a royal commentator as he is a designer. When Lagerfeld took part in France 2’s live broadcast of the royal wedding last April, he didn’t hold back, characterising the guests’ dress choices as a mess of ‘the bad proportions, the ugly hats, the short skirts on fat legs.’ Five million viewers tuned in.

A news reader and a journalist will join Lagerfeld for the transmission. Hopefully they won’t have very much to say, freeing Lagerfeld to share more priceless one-liners.
