The Pink Palace turns 100

Happy birthday Beverly Hills Hotel

Since it first opened way back in 1912, the grande dame of Beverly Hills hospitality has welcomed celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and John Lennon into its hallowed halls.

With its iconic Polo Lounge restaurant and collection of cabana bungalows, it’s known to LA insiders as the Pink Palace and is often used as a second home by A-Listers enamoured with hotel life.

To celebrate its centenary year, throughout 2012 the hotel is hosting a slew of celebratory offerings. Our favourite? The ‘Pop-Up 1912 Pricing’ whereby, each week, one lucky table will be randomly selected to have their bill amount converted to 1912 dollars.

We also love the cocktail menu featuring The Rebel, inspired by the pants-wearing Marlene Dietrich; The Recluse, a nod to Bungalow long-timer Howard Hughes, who left his Cadillac parked next to the hotel for two years; and The Norma Jean in loving memory of another Bungalow resident, one Marilyn Monroe.
