It’s no secret that women the world over have a penchant for . With the likes of and constantly pushing our style buttons, French insouciance has never been more coveted: something the founders of exclusive ecommerce site, Vestiaire Collective know all too well...

Officially launched in France in 2009 and currently boasting over 700,000 members, the site offers the chance to buy and sell previously owned designer items at a 30-70% reduction from the original retail price. In fact, we've just spied last year's Prada on there for just 450 euros – much improved on the original 650.

It is essentially a marketplace with social, community and peer-to-peer elements and is updated daily with an average of 1500 items - sound a little familiar?

Here’s the difference: Vestiaire Collective prides itself on being a trusted platform, which means that each item is vetted before it can even be included on the site. Once sold, it is then edited, checked and authenticated by a team of quality control experts to guarantee the product arrives as described.

‘There is no compromise on quality and authenticity, so you can enjoy the best of the marketplace and avoid bad surprises,’ Fanny Moizant told us exclusively, the company’s marketing director and one of its six founding members.

And now for the first time since its launch, the site is ready to discover British wardrobes, offering UK members the chance to join the online experience. ‘I can’t wait to see what UK fashion lovers will think of our concept, how they will adopt it and play with it,’ said Moizant.

Maybe it’s worth getting round to that spring clean after all...
