WWD and the International Herald Tribune reported that Sander would return as creative director to the house she founded in 1968.

The reports arrived following the Sander label’s announcement that longtime designer Raf Simons would depart. Simons will present his final collection for the label on Saturday and leave the company on Monday, the parties said in a joint statement.

A media frenzy led up to the Simons-Sander announcement, ignited by a German gossip magazine’s report that Sander would return to her namesake label. Simons, meanwhile, has long been the subject of speculation as a potential successor to John Galliano at Christian Dior.

Sander left her label for the first time in 2000, one year after selling a majority stake to Prada Group. She returned to the house in 2003, only to depart again in 2005 after clashing with Prada Group CEO Patrizio Bertelli.

The Sander group ‘will communicate the appointment of a new Creative Director in the next few days,’ it said in a statement.
