Helena wears Vivienne to receive CBE

The Queen presented Helena Bonham-Carter with a CBE at Buckingham Palace yesterday afternoon.

The event brought Bonham-Carter face to face with the woman whose mother she played in The King’s Speech. Bonham-Carter won a best actress Bafta for her portrayal of the Queen Mother in the Oscar-winning film, a performance the Queen is understood to have enjoyed.

The actress wore a tartan suit by Vivienne Westwood and a shrunken top hat to collect her honours. All she would say about the investiture ceremony was that it had been ‘very, very special’.
