All of the above can really be bottled in to one aesthetic: military. Treated more literally here than the nods to the trend we've seen elsewhere, with course-looking, felted army green General coats (sure to be as butter-soft as cashmere to touch), parachute-style gathered hems and dungarees.

Replacing the colour-blocking trend of old, we now have texture-blocking instead. High shine leather panels stripe through crepe wool coats, camel hair is stacked on bottom-halves and sleeves. It's a winter trend that is sure to filter down to the high street.

MaxMara always excel in the coat department - cocoon-backed or classic "MaxMara Camel" present and correct and lovely as ever. But today we looked more closely at the separates too. And with the fluid palazzo-PJ pants, high-shine leather skirts and blown-back angora sweaters, we liked what we saw.
