A dark-as-night set, black velvet, jacquard and brocade wrapped tightly around the body with flowing layers of transparent chiffon skirts and sleeves. Black capes shrouded models making them look like dark knights while pyjama style trouser suits added a louche look to contrast the bodice-ripping ones.

‘This is modern-day romanticism,’ explained Creative Director Frida Giannini; ‘a dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour,’ she added.

And of course we were treated to our rite of passage; the finale of stunning gowns.
