Zac Posen's Drummed-up Drama

Taking a journey to Japan, Zac Posen drummed up drama via his grand collection, a line-up of gowns and evening suits in red, gold and jewel tones that were folded like origami paper to highlight all the right curves.

With rich floral jacquards and accessories like obi sashes, the new was infused with classic Posen trademarks: peplum-waisted tops, menswear tailoring, a slimmer-than-thou waist and signature mermaid gowns. The Far Eastern influence was on display by way of the gorgeous dresses and gowns punctuated with Asian-inspired details.

Posen has never disappointed with his dresses; for autumn winter 12, when he didn’t lean toward the conservative, they included a fine selection, many of which boasted kimono sleeves and matching theatrical opera coats. This collection had plenty of pomp and circumstance; it’s nice to see a young ingénue make a successful progressive return to the main stage.
