Continuing with the catwalk backdrop of an immaculate yellow taxi emblazoned with the DKNY logo, Donna Karan’s younger, more contemporary line, offered a seemingly non-stop plethora of leather.

Whether shown as a high-neck collar or detachable scarf or peplum inset, it was leather, leather all the time. While it’s been the strongest trend to emerge for autumn winter 2012, it was approachable yet glamorous at DKNY.

Entitled “Poetic Rebellion,” the line-up was inspired chiefly by the Beat Generation: Ginsbergs, Burroughs and Kerouac. All the black made for a terribly chic, and sleek, uptown experience. A fabulous belted down parka paired with a peplum skirt or a mock-turtleneck sweater worn with an embossed leather skirt are must-haves for next season. The real strength, however, lied in the outerwear, where permeations of colour in the diverse offerings only made this collection all the more appealing.
