Adele took home six awards, at last night's Grammys including the award for album of the year for 21, and song of the year for Rolling in the Deep - tying with Beyonce for the most awards ever won by a female artist in one night.

Adele, who dazzled in two different outfits from Burberry and on the night, also won a standing ovation from the audience for her performance of Rolling in the Deep.

Yet the evening was tinged with sadness, as the host of the Grammys, rapper LL Cool J, opened the event with a prayer for Whitney Houston, who passed away on Saturday afternoon. Singer Jennifer Hudson performed a moving tribute to Houston, singing the late star's signature hit I Will Always Love You.
