In a sign of confidence and assured direction, the Helmut Lang label, under the auspices of Nicole and Michael Colovos, has steadfastly become a reliable provider of clothing that perfectly fits any moment.

For Autumn Winter 2012, the designers, who called the collection “Night Watch,” didn’t stray far from what has made the brand relevant again: great separates at justifiable prices that are versatile and timeless. Indeed, the intrinsically classic qualities of their designs are partly what make the Helmut Lang brand so attractive. The outerwear in this collection was exceptionally strong, from the felt and patrol jackets to a series of embossed jackets that seemed to fit the bill for what every young woman wants, and needs, in her wardrobe. There was no shortage of edgy leather offerings, either, including a black plunge top, fringe dress and floral appliqué jacket. An exceptional look in the collection was the leather-pant-and-jersey-top combo, which was artfully layered underneath a cape wrapped long enough that it wrapped around the neck several times.
