Designers Karen Erickson and Vicki Beamon faced up to the challenge of ‘trying to marry the clothes and the jewelry,’ Erickson told the New York Times, devising a series of 1920s Berlin-influenced dresses with integrated bling.

‘Of course, we’re doing jewel tones,’ Erickson added, speaking to the paper before Erickson Beamon’s autumn-winter ’12 presentation in New York on Thursday night.

The dresses on show included designs with built-in necklaces, brooch-like embellishments where bodices met straps and delicate strands draped over shoulders.

‘[I]t’s time for us to be spreading our wings,’ Erickson said.
